Matier & Ross Reports On Several Meetings Between SF and Chinese Officials

The Chinese ambassador to the United States, Zhou Wenzhong, flew to San Francisco last week for a one-on-one meeting with Mayor Gavin Newsom.
and later refers to other meetings - both Police Chief Heather Fong, and the mayor's event coordinator Martha Cohen, have traveled to Beijing for briefings, as well.
Seems the ever image-conscious People's Republic is worried about groups such as Falun Gong or the Free Tibet forces disrupting the parade of the Olympic torch when it comes to the city in April.
